What is with Kids TV Shows these days

When I was a kidlet I watched cool shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, He-man, Gummi Bears and Ducktales. These were cool shows, full of action and fun. Now I sit with my little boy and watch the kids shows of today and can’t believe the difference. The shows these days all seem to be educational, what happened to good old entertainment. In all seriousness, teaching kids with fun is a great way for them to learn.

Adam Is alway totally entranced by Little Einsteins

In my opinion the best TV shows for kids are Tree Fu Tom, Word World, Jungle Junction, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I have to add Little Einsteins because my boy loves it. These shows both entertain and teach. Word World is obviously all about words, in fact all the objects and animals are physically made out of the word that describes them. Tree Fu Tom and Jungle Junction teach lessons about cheating, stealing and other realities of life. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse helps to teach kids how to solve physical problems. While Little Einsteins contrary to its name is actually all about music, which brings me to my rant for the day.

Little Einsteins just happens to be my little boys favourite. Little Einsteins annoys the shit out of me. The name for a start suggests a group of smart little kids, little scientists, but that is far from the case. I know the name comes from the parent company Baby Einstein. That is beside the point, the show should be called Little Mozarts or Little Beethovens. This show is all about classical music and art, it has nothing to do with science or physics as the name Einstein suggests. To top it all off the group of little “musicians” aren’t particularly smart either. It really is a bit of an insult to the Einstein name!

OK rant over!

I don’t know why the show annoys me so much, when shows I used to watch and still watch contain a lot of scientific inaccuracies themselves.

In any case my little boy loves it and that’s all that really matters.
